Where learners get stuck

The theory test is the part nobody really talks about. Here’s what most people find tricky, and where I can help.

Not sure where to start

There’s a lot to learn. I’ll point you to the right resources so you’re not wading through it alone.

Hazard perception

Spotting developing hazards on video feels odd at first. We practise the same skill on real roads during lessons.

Road signs and rules

Junction rules, signs and stopping distances make far more sense once you’ve seen them from the driver’s seat.

Two parts, both needed

The theory test is set by the DVSA. You need to pass both parts before you can book your practical driving test.

What’s the best app for the theory test?

I recommend the Driving Theory Test 4-in-1 Kit app. It covers the multiple-choice questions and hazard perception, so you can practise both parts in your own time.

No. You can start lessons first, and many people do. You do need to pass your theory test before you can book your practical test.

Little and often works best: short practice sessions with the app, plus lessons where you see the rules and signs in real life. Things stick far better once you’ve seen them from the driver’s seat.

I’m not a revision tutor, but theory help comes free alongside your driving lessons. If you’re stuck on something, just message me.

Book it on the official GOV.UK website. You’ll need your provisional licence number.
