Instructing experience
I’m originally from Birmingham, and before becoming an instructor I studied Sports and Physical Education at University Centre Peterborough. That’s where I got interested in how people learn, and what holds them back.
I’m not a psychologist and I’d never claim to be, but that curiosity shapes the way I teach. It’s a big part of why I specialise in nervous and anxious learners. For a lot of people, getting behind the wheel isn’t just learning a skill. It’s overcoming something, whether that’s a fear of mistakes or a bad experience with a previous instructor. I get it, and I know how to help.
No rushing, and no feeling like you’re falling behind. We build confidence at a pace that works for you.
Without gears and a clutch to think about, you can focus on becoming a better, safer driver. It’s not a shortcut, just a smarter way to learn for many people.
You’ll always know what you’re doing well and what we need to work on. No waffle, no false reassurance.
I’m pretty easygoing. I love gigs, I’m a big gamer, and whenever I can, I’m off exploring somewhere new on my motorbike. I live in Tamworth with my fiancée and our pup Nova, so I know these roads because I drive them every day.

I passed my driving test today with only a single minor fault, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience. Matthew is a wonderful instructor who instills confidence from day one. Instead of just teaching the bare minimum to pass the exam, he focuses on high standard, real-world traffic scenarios (Motorways/ Narrow country roads). Highly recommended for anyone wanting to become a truly safe and capable driver.

Matt is great driving instructor. He always kept the lessons calm and relaxed, which really helped build my confidence behind the wheel. Thanks to his support and guidance, I passed my test on 9th February 2026 with only 1 minor. I couldn’t recommend him enough!

Matt is an amazing instructor, really helped me, couldn’t have passed without him, couldn’t recommend him anymore. He’s a good person and a good friend.
